The CDC is now recommending that adults with compromised immune systems get a COVID-19 booster shot. This comes one day after the FDA granted emergency approval of a third dose of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. A booster will be given to people who do not produce an adequate immune response after receiving two doses of a vaccine, specifically HIV and cancer patients. The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department is waiting on federal guidance, and is ready to administer the booster immediately.
