Man Accused of Murdering His Parents Enters Not Guilty Plea

A man facing murder charges for the deaths of his parents pleaded not guilty to the charges during a virtual hearing in Kanawha County Circuit Court on Wednesday. 27-year old Takano Kambara was previously indicted on two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Tsukasa and Claudette Kambara. Judge Joanna Tabit also ruled during the hearing that Kambara was competent to stand trial based on a doctor’s evaluation. Neighbors reported a history of alleged domestic violence toward the parents, which was backed up by Takanao’s court records and a history of calls to the home, according to a criminal complaint. Tabit set his trial for Dec. 6 but prosecutors noted it could be moved into the following term of court due to the complexity of the case.
