The Charleston-based charity, the McGee Foundation, has committed $250,000 for the creation of a master plan to improve things on the West Side. The mayor’s office said the donation was made in late 2020 to The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation to fund the work for the City of Charleston. Residents on the West Side have raised concerns about everything from housing, to jobs, social services to food access. Work on the master plan is underway now.
