Development Will Begin Soon on the Former ACF Site in Huntington

Huntington officials said a major demolition project will take place that they hope will spur future development. Before Thanksgiving this year, demolition will begin on 18 obsolete buildings at the former ACF site, according to communications director Bryan Chambers. The demolition will be done to get the site flat and ready for development. The ACF site is expected to get its certificate of cleanup completion from the West Virginia DEP in early 2022, if not sooner. n August 2020, the city was awarded a $350,000 grant to clean up the ACF Industries site and leaders said then that the brownfield grant will fund a project that will conduct an assessment of the site and start developing it for reuse.
