Former Hobet Mine Site Will Gain a New Access Road

The West Virginia Department of Highways and Gov. Jim Justice want a new road for prospective companies when they come to the former Hobet mine site, now known as the Rock Branch Development Park. A new access road will be paved to the property with the access point in Boone County. A bid was recently awarded to S&E Clearing and Hydroseeding, Inc. for three miles and $4.3 million of paving off of Route 119. WCHS TV reported that a $25 million diamond interchange will also be built. According to the DOH, a bridge will be built over Corridor G and another bridge will cross the CSX rail line and the Little Coal River. The goal is to create easy access to the site, which has a lot of potential, not just for Boone and Lincoln counties.
