New Option Could be Coming for Charleston Cable TV Customers

A Parkersburg-based communications company has submitted a cable franchise agreement application to the City of Charleston. If an agreement is reached, CAS Cable would provide cable, phone and internet service throughout Charleston beginning in 2022, according to a news release from the city. The service would start in north Charleston and the West Side before spreading to all of Charleston. Officials called the move a step toward providing competition in the market. Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin said last November the city appointed a committee to review its current agreement and to recruit new competition. The committee will hear a presentation from CAS Cable at its next meeting on Monday, Oct. 25. CAS Cable, a family-owned company, has served multiple communities in West Virginia and Ohio for more than 40 years.
