West Virginia University has chosen a veteran officer as the school’s first female police chief. Sherry St. Clair begins her new role this week with the school’s University Police following a national search to fill the position, according to a news release from the university. More than 50 candidates applied for the job. In 1994, St. Clair joined the department while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Fairmont State University. She completed training at the West Virginia State Police Academy in 1995.
