Long Lines Were Part of This Week’s Vaccination and Testing Clinic

Hundreds turned out Wednesday for COVID shots and testing at a clinic in Charleston. The line of cars to the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department’s mass test and vaccine event went for blocks. Kanawha-Charleston Health Department Interim Health Director Dr. Sherri Young said it’s a critical time for testing and said PCR testing will remain important even when millions of home test kits become available because they are more accurate. Doctors are warning people even if they get a negative from a home test, but still have symptoms, to seek out a more accurate PCR test. The clinic administered 351 tests, 202 COVID vaccines, and 47 flu vaccines on Wednesday.

Testing and vaccination clinics are held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Kanawha-Charleston Heath Department located on 108 Lee Street East. The clinic and offices will be closed Friday Dec. 31 and Monday Jan. 3. while observing the New Year holiday.
