The Special Metals strike is now set to continue into 2022 after negotiations ended Wednesday night and are not set to resume until January. Union leaders went into this week feeling confident they could have something to take back, but United Steelworkers Local 40 President Chad Thompson says no new progress was made as workers prepare for day 76 on the line. WCHS TV reported that negotations took two steps back after having a productive week of negotiating last week. Healthcare and seniority rights are two of the main issues. Now, the next scheduled dates for negotiations are Jan. 4, 5 and 6. A Special Metals strike in 1998 lasted from October until February.
