Special Metals Workers to Take a Break from the Picket Line Through the Holiday

The hundreds of workers on strike at Special Metals in Huntington are waiting until the next negotiation dates in January to learn more about whether the ongoing strike will be resolved. That means the workers are going the full holiday season without income. An Angel Tree was created this year for the workers and their families to still be able to provide gifts for their loved ones.
With 80 families to take care of, New Life Church, workers at Steel of West Virginia and Calgon as well as individuals from the community took the Angel Tree forms for each of them and bought gifts. WCHS TV said the workers have decided they also will be taking a holiday break coming off of the line from December 24 to December 26 to spend time with their families. Special Metals and the union will go back to the table on Jan. 4, 5 and 6. A spokesperson with Special Metals says they will continue to negotiate in good faith until an agreement is reached.
