West Virginia state employees will receive a 5% pay raise and a one-time supplemental bonus pending the state legislature’s approval. Gov. Jim Justice announced the pay raises Thursday and said they include public school teachers and service personnel. Justice cited inflation and other economic issues as reasons for the one-time bonus, which will be equal to 2.5% of each employee’s pay. He said lawmakers will take up the raise and one-time bonus in the next legislative session, and lawmakers have announced they intend to support it.
