Charleston firefighters were called to a building that caught fire in the 1100 block of Quarrier Street Tuesday night. According to firefighters, the building was formerly owned by Covenant House, but the church nearby was using it for storage. Assistant Chief Trevor Dysart said they believe the fire may have stemmed from an altercation between two people. Firefighters believe it started on the left side of the building and the fire worked its way into the walls and up to the roof. After the fire was out, crews went inside the building to salvage whatever items could be removed. The building was knocked down a short time later because it was deemed unsafe. The official cause of the fire is under investigation.
