A man from Putnam County has pleaded guilty to identity theft after he defrauded a bank and two senior citizens. The U.S. Department of Justice said Robert Jones of Hurricane admitted he had forged checks belonging to an elderly homeowner in Clendenin after being hired as a handyman. Jones has pending charges in Jackson, Lewis, Lincoln, and Putnam County for additional fraud schemes and faces prison time, according to the Department of Justice.
