Hearing Today on CAS Cable’s Plans to Come to Charleston

Another public hearing is scheduled in Kanawha County regarding a potential new cable company in the area. CAS Cable, a family-owned cable company based in Parkersburg, has applied for a franchise agreement in Kanawha County. The hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. on today (Thursday, Jan. 6), at the Kanawha County Courthouse to provide feedback and receive information on the company. Charleston City Council’s cable franchise committee on Monday proposed to give CAS a 15 year deal with a five year rollout plan. The committee also recommended giving Suddenlink, currently the only competitor in the market, a five year deal. The cable company would provide HD video, high speed internet and advanced phone services to the region, if approved.
