Health officials in West Virginia reported 24 new COVID-19-related deaths Monday as hospitalizations due to the virus continued to surge. Hospitalizations increased by 37 to 815 on Monday, according to data posted to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources’ website. The hospitalizations include 224 people in intensive care – up 16 from the previous day – and 133 people on ventilators, also up seven. The state’s active case total dropped by nearly 1,000 to 15,124 despite the addition of 2,289 new positive cases for the day. There are 1,639 active cases currently in Kanawha County.
