Fayette County deputies said a man hired to mow a woman’s lawn faces charges after he was accused of using her debit card information. Bernard L. Adkins of Fayetteville was charged in connection with a fraud complaint reported to the sheriff’s office on Sept. 13, 2021. The woman reported she had hired a person to mow her grass, and in the following days was notified by her bank that her account was overdrawn. Investigators determined the man had used her debit card information to make online transactions on Facebook Pay to himself and others. Adkins was charged with 31 counts of computer fraud and 31 counts of fraudulent use of an access device. He was transported to Southern Regional Jail, where he is currently being held on a $35,000 surety/cash bond.
