Quick Work by Hurricane Police Leads to a Robbery Arrest

Police said a robbery suspect who was wanted on a parole violation out of Kentucky was taken into custody Monday morning at gunpoint by Hurricane police as he left a pharmacy he had just robbed. 39-year old Joseph McGranahan of Ashland, Ky. was taken into custody after Walgreens called to report the robbery. The first Hurricane police officer arrived at the scene about 60 to 90 seconds later, according to Mayor Scott Edwards. Other officers arrived to help soon after. The suspect is being charged with armed robbery, assault on a police officer and assault on four employees.
