The requirement to be vaccinated against COVID-19 kicked in Thursday for millions of health care workers in half the states in America. West Virginia is not yet included because it challenged the rule from the Biden administration in court, but unless something changes soon that day is approaching. The mandate is starting first in states that did not challenge the ruling. It will take effect later in February for West Virginia and 24 other states that filed lawsuits. Earlier this month, the Supreme Court lifted injunctions that had put the vaccine mandate on hold. Many hospitals have their own mandates, and a majority of workers are already vaccinated. West Virginia nursing homes will have until Feb. 14 before they will have to comply because of the state’s position in the courts system.
