Big Buck Photo Contest Was a Success

Hunters from around the Mountain State were recognized by Gov. Jim Justice at a special ceremony at the state Culture Center Friday. The inaugural Big Buck Photo Contest, sponsored by West Virginia’s Department of Tourism and Division of Natural Resources, saw more than 1,600 entries in five weeks. Finalists were selected randomly from all entries and winners were chosen by a committee based on photography, antler size and a description of the hunt. Youth finalists received a lifetime hunting and fishing license from the state and adults selected from a list of prizes including free licenses, gifts cards, and lodging in state forest cabins.
