Chesapeake Volunteer Fire Chief Faces Charges

The chief of the Chesapeake Volunteer Fire Department has been charged with embezzlement and grand larceny. 50-year old Steven “PJ” Johnson of Chesapeake was charged Tuesday, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court. The charges allege that Johnson embezzled $4,500 from the fire department under the guise of paying an American Electric Power bill in September 2019. A West Virginia State Police trooper filed the complaint after meeting with an investigator with the West Virginia Legislature’s Commission on Special Investigations.
