Groups Help Those Displaced After Homeless Encampment is Removed

On Friday, city crews cleared out a homeless encampment under the Virginia Street Bridge. The Charleston Police Department said the camp had been at the location for less than 30 days and a notice was posted in the area about the removal four days before it happened. WCHS TV reported the city’s Coordinated Addiction Response Effort program is helping people who were displaced by the camp’s removal. Agencies on-site help people find housing, medication, Social Security cards and anything that they need. Kanawha Valley Collective is also chipping in to help.
