COVID Cases Continue to Decline, but Masks Still Encouraged

The Centers for Disease Control released updated guidance for mask wearing as covid cases trend down across the country. The CDC lists Kanawha County, and the entire mountain state, as high risk for community spread, recommending people in West Virginia continue to wear masks indoors in public settings. CAMC pediatric specialist, Dr. Neil Copeland, told WCHS TV that without any new variants on the horizon, the covid pandemic could soon become an endemic, meaning it would become a regular part of life like the flu. Copeland said all indicators point to the virus winding down because it’s going to be harder to reinfect other individuals if we’ve already been infected or if we’ve been vaccinated.
