Elkview Teen Won’t Have Her 10-Year Sentence Reduced

The teenage girl who helped her then-boyfriend hide out and elude authorities after they said he killed four members of his family in Elkview was back before a judge asking for her sentence to be reconsidered. Rebecca Walker was sentenced last September to 10 years in prison on four counts of accessory after the fact to first-degree murder in the deaths of Daniel Dale Long, Risa Mae Saunders, Gage Ripley, and Jameson Long. The judge ruled this week that she won’t get a reduced sentencr. Her boyfriend at the time of the murder, Gavin Smith, is facing four counts of first-degree murder. Smith’s case is expected to be presented to a grand jury in the near future.
