Jury selection had been scheduled to get underway Monday in the trial for Joshua Phillips, related to the death of Charleston police officer Cassie Johnson who killed by gunfire in 2020. Instead, Judge Jennifer Bailey delayed the trial due to an insufficient number of jurors. Judge Bailey set a new trial date for June 13 after having only 22 potential jurors to pick from. Eyewitness News reporter Leslie Rubin said Bailey ordered the clerk to call in 100 potential jurors for the trial this summer and added that communication will be much more aggressive.
