As Russia continues to wage attacks on Ukraine, more than 600,000 Ukrainians have already fled the country seeking refuge, according to the UN. WCHS TV said one organization in Charleston is starting to build capacity again to take in refugees just in case. Rabbi Victor Urecki is the president of the West Virginia Interfaith Refugee Ministry that formed in 2015, it formed in response to the refugee crisis in Syria. The group is made up of various faith leaders and worked with the Episcopal Migration Ministries for more than a year to get approval from local, state and federal leaders. Rabbi Urecki said the process of settling refugees is very slow and difficult, but they’re beginning to plan now.
