Natural Resources Police Name an Officer of the Year

An officer who has made multiple wildlife poacher arrests in Logan, Boone and Mingo counties has been named as a group’s 2021 Natural Resources Police Officer of the Year. Jacob Miller is a West Virginia Natural Resources Police officer in Mingo County, and was selected by the West Virginia Bowhunters Association for the honor. Natural Resources Police said in a Facebook post that Miller’s passion for bowhunting and his knowledge of the Southern West Virginia counties he patrols, combined with his network of contacts and investigative skills, has helped him be one of the best officers in the state. During the past hunting season, he worked with another officer to cite 28 people with 97 violations involving the illegal hunting and killing of 29 deer, one bear and one wild boar.
