Slack Plaza Renovations Near Completion

Slack Plaza in downtown Charleston was originally built in the 1980s and has been in the redesign phase for years. Now, the city of Charleston is putting the finishing touches on the new park that will connect the city’s convention center and mall to its historic shopping district on Capitol Street. Eyewitness News said the city is waiting on a few light poles and a canopy to be delivered to finish off the space but it should be open in April. The stage, bench swings and a new KRT facility are nearly ready for the public. Food trucks will be welcomed at the park, along with live concerts and other entertainment. In front of the stage are water features that kids can splash around in this summer. The city plans to announce an official ribbon cutting date soon.
