A man pleaded guilty in a Charleston murder investigation that police said started with an argument over methamphetamine. Beau Hodge pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the death of Charles āCJā Thaxton. The shooting happened in April 2021 on Stuart Street. Thaxton was found lying in the alley between Stuart Street and Frame Street with a gunshot wound to the chest. Police said Hodge fled the scene. He was found several hours later after he wrecked a truck he was driving on North Pink Road in Elkview. Hodge was initially charged with first-degree murder. Judge Tera Salango accepted the plea deal. Both sides have agree to a 15 year sentence but Hodge will not be formally sentenced until April 11.
