Officials did not confirm the long-term future of Virgin Hyperloop in the Mountain State on Wednesday, but said the only thing that has been lost so far in trying to get the company to locate in West Virginia was “time and effort.” Any incentives that were promised to Virgin Hyperloop were all related to the company first creating jobs and investing in the state. The governor confirmed reports last week that Virgin Hyperloop was abandoning its plan to develop a high-speed passenger transit system in favor of cargo shipping. The New York Post reported that the company laid off nearly half its staff as part of the transition.
