A Hurricane landmark was destroyed by a fire Tuesday evening. Mayor Scott Edwards said a house on the Woodworth Farm, located on Main Street, caught fire around 6:45 p.m. The Woodworth family purchased the home from Sears between 1915 and 1920, and brought it to Hurricane by train and put it together on site. Mayor Edwards said he was the first to arrive on scene and the home was engulfed in flames. The home had been empty for nearly 20 years. Firefighters from Hurricane, Culloden and Teays Valley also responded to the scene.
