More than $5.7 million in upgrades have been completed at North Bend State Park in Ritchie County. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was conducted Friday to celebrate the reopening of the park’s lodge ahead of the summer travel season. Lodge upgrades include renovations to guest rooms, lobby, front desk, gift shop and restaurant, and improvements to the lodge exterior, walkways, guest room corridors and landscaping. North Bend State Park also underwent $500,000 in cabin upgrades and $700,000 in construction for a pair of picnic shelters. Hawks Nest, Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley state parks have also seen nearly $18 million in improvements this year.
