Because of decreasing enrollment, Kanawha County Schools will cut some positions. The drop in the number of students will lead to an expected loss of millions of dollars in state funding, and 55 positions will be cut as a result. The district will lose 13 service positions and over 40 professional positions. Some of of the positions will become vacant through retirement and attrition and won’t be filled. Those whose jobs will be impacted by the cuts are already aware of the changes.
