New Law is Designed to Boost Affordable Housing

Gov. Jim Justice has signed into law a bill that encourages construction of new housing. The bill, called the BUILD WV Act, was sponsored by Del. Doug Skaff, D-Kanawha, who said the goal of the bill is to attract businesses and people to West Virginia, and build affordable homes. House Bill 4502 encourages the development of residential housing through three types of tax credits. Developers apply for the tax credits through the state’s Economic Development Department. The bill goes into effect June 10.
