Parents Arrested After Toddler Ingests Heroin

Two people were charged earlier this week after deputies said a small child overdosed on heroin in Raleigh County. James L. Minton and Amanda G. Richmond, both of Daniels were charged with child neglect resulting in serious bodily injury, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies said they were called to a home in Daniels after a “toddler-aged child” had accidentally overdosed on heroin. Three deputies arrived within two minutes and administered Nalaxone to the child. The toddler was then taken to a local hospital where it was turned over to medical staff and appeared to be recovering well. Both suspects are currently being held in Southern Regional Jail each on $75,000 surety/cash bond.
