Putnam County Man is Cited for Exceeding the Catch Limit

An angler in Putnam County has been cited for violating state regulations while bass fishing. Natural Resources Police said they responded to a complaint at the Winfield Locks along the Kanawha River on April 17 and cited a man for exceeding his creel limit and illegal possession of wildlife. A social media post by West Virginia Natural Resources Police reported the man had kept 20 smallmouth bass, exceeding his daily limit of six. Officers report the infractions were documented and the man released 14 of the bass that were still alive. State fishing regulations may be reviewed on the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources web page.
