The sentencing for a man who had recently pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for deadly shooting that took place along Interstate 77 has been delayed. 24-year old Jordan Lowrie, also known as “Jaydo,” pleaded guilty to the charge in February and was set to be sentenced on Monday. Lowrie was indicted, along with Dekotis Thomas, in May 2021 for the murder of 28-year old Antwan Curnell of Dunbar. Thomas is awaiting trial for the 2021 murder of 18-year old Kelvin “KJ” Taylor of Charleston. Thomas was indicted for both murders at the same time. He will first stand trial for Taylor’s murder. Kanawha County prosecutors secured the plea deal with Lowrie with his agreement that he would cooperate in the case against Thomas but, Judge Joanna Tabit said during Monday’s hearing that Lowrie was not cooperative during a pre-sentence report meeting. Tabit opted to continue the hearing the give Lowrie his lawyer additional time to meet. There will be another hearing on June 8.
