U.S. and West Virginia flags at the Capitol Complex in Charleston and all state-owned facilities in Braxton County will be displayed at half-staff in honor of a fallen Braxton County firefighter who died in a water rescue attempt. The flags will fly at half-staff from dawn to dusk in honor of John Dean Forbush, a Gassaway firefighter who died after jumping into the water to try to save a mother and daughter whose vehicle plunged into the river. Both the mother and daughter died in the incident, which the Braxton County Sheriff’s Office said was a murder suicide.
