New Law Aims to Improve Water Infrastructure

Gov. Jim Justice signed 15 bills passed during the recent special legislative session, including one that will provide a $250 million supplemental appropriation to help municipalities upgrade infrastructure such as water and sewer systems. House Bill 217 provides the supplemental appropriation to the Economic and Enhancement Fund that is managed by the West Virginia Water Development Authority. The governor’s office said in a news release the authority will use the fund to work with the West Virginia Infrastructure and Development Council and West Virginia Department of Economic Development to provide matching grants to municipalities.
