Kanawha County commissioners said the county has received its second American Rescue Plan Act payment, totaling nearly $17.3 million. The county, which began accepting grant requests for the funding in August 2021, has now received nearly $34.6 million for groups including TEAM Vaccinate, Kanawha Valley Senior Services, West Virginia Health Right, the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department, and the Kanawha County Regional Development Authority for the Crestwood Water Project. A $1 million award will go toward the demolition of blighted and abandoned structures, $941,000 will go toward the redesign and construction of a new nine-hole golf course at Coonskin Park, and $332,000 for eight new pickleball courts and basketball court at the Shawnee Sports Complex
