TSA Officers to Use New 3-D Scanner

Federal officials said a new scanner at Huntington Tri-State Airport has features that will improve the capabilities to screen carry-on items for explosives. The new state-of-the-art scanner provides 3-D images and gives agents the ability to zoom in on and rotate a 3-D image of a carry-on bag to get a more complete picture. In most cases, the ability to rotate the image will allow the TSA officer to identify an item inside the bag and clear it without a need to open it for inspection.
