Volunteers to Install Free Smoke Detectors in Huntington

The City of Huntington, the Huntington Fire Department, the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office and the American Red Cross are teaming up to install free smoke detectors. The American Red Cross says on its website that home fires claim seven lives every day, but having working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death by half. The goal is for volunteers to install 50,000 free smoke alarms nationwide, as part of the Sound the Alarm events. Free smoke detector installation day will take place in Huntington on June 22, 2022 from 1-4 p.m. You can register for the program at Redcross.org.
