Woman Arrested After Shots Were Fired Near Charleston Bars

A woman was arrested after police said she fired several shots during an altercation in downtown Charleston. 26-year old Alaysha Taylor of Charleston is charged with wanton endangerment involving a firearm. Just before 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, a Charleston police officer said he was near the Spyro’s parking lot on Hale Street located next to Vino’s Bar and Grill on Kanawha Boulevard when he witnessed several females physically fighting. The officer said he heard several shots fired and saw a woman, who was later identified as Taylor, with a pistol in her hand pointing toward the sky through the window of a car and fired a second round. She dropped the weapon when commanded. Taylor is being held at the South Central Regional Jail on a $5,000 bond. This is the latest shooting in the downtown area along the Boulevard and near Hale Street where there are several bars and nightclubs that have prompted Charleston Police to do extra patrols.
