Clendenin police said a man faces multiple charges after he crashed a vehicle, fled from the scene and fought with officers. 50-year old Jeffrey Lee Smith of Clendenin was arrested Sunday following a single-vehicle wreck near Hokie Lane and Elk River Road North. The suspect resisted arrested and began to fight with officers before he was taken into custody, police said. Smith is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, fleeing from a law enforcement officer, battery on a law enforcement officer and obstruction.
