Floyd County Shooting Suspect Awaits a Preliminary Hearing

Two people were killed and five others were injured in a shootout between law enforcement and a man who barricaded himself Thursday night in Floyd County, Kentucky. State Police there said two officers were killed along with a K-9 officer and five others were injured, including four officers and an emergency management official. Three of the officers remain in the hospital, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police. The suspect, Lance Storz, faces multiple charges, including murder, attempted murder of a police officer and assault on a service animal. Kentucky State Police said deputies were attempting to serve papers at a residence in Allen, Ky., when Storz allegedly barricaded himself and began shooting at them. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 11.
