WV closes fiscal year with $1.3 billion surplus

The state finished the fiscal year one-point-three-billion-dollars above projections. West Virginia collected over 660-million-dollars in June. The governor’s office and state legislature have already approved the use of $800 million of the revenue surplus in the next state budget. That will leave about $500 million open to other allocations. The legislature will deal with the additional revenue in a special session later this summer.
