A man was killed late Monday night in Charleston after accidentally being shot in the head by a friend. Investigators said 22-year old Dominique Poindexter was killed when his friend fired what was thought to be an unloaded gun in his direction, striking him in the head. Charleston Police said Poindexter and an unidentified second man had been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana throughout the evening Monday when they started playing with the gun. The man immediately called 911 and has been fully cooperative. The incident was reported in the 500 block of Wyoming Street about 10:30 p.m. Poindexter was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation will be reviewed by the Kanawha County Prosecutor’s Office.
