Former Holz Elementary Aides Face Charges for Failing to Report Abuse

Two former Holz Elementary teacher’s aides, who worked alongside a teacher now spending 10 years in jail for abusing special needs students, have been charged with failing to report the abuse inside the classroom. Lori Gibson and Lisa Perdue appeared in court Monday morning after being issued a summons through information that was filed in Kanawha County Circuit Court in July. Gibson is charged with seven counts of failure to report, while Perdue is charged with six counts of the same misdemeanor crime. Perdue’s attorney entered a not guilty plea on her behalf and her trial has been set for Dec. 5. Gibson, who appeared in person without her attorney, had her arraignment rescheduled because her attorney could not attend the hearing.
