COVID Booster Shots Will Be Recommended This Fall

New COVID-19 boosters, targeting today’s most common omicron strains, are arriving in West Virginia. Health officials say the boosters provide better protection against currently circulating coronavirus variants. The booster is recommended for people 12 and up who completed the primary series. It must be at least two months after that or your most recent booster to get a new one. Health officials report the initial emphasis will be getting older West Virginians – over the age of 50 – to get the booster. There should be plenty of doses available for anyone over 12 after that. The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department has not yet received the boosters but expects to have more information on their availability Tuesday.
