Kanawha County deputies said a bicyclist was transported to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Cross Lanes. The 58-year-old man riding the bike had crossed the Big Tyler Road and Washington Street West intersection Monday evening when he was hit by a vehicle turning from Big Tyler Road onto Washington Street West. The sheriff’s office said the bicyclist is suspected of being under the influence of drugs and inattentive at the time of the incident. He was taken to Thomas Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was found not be in violation of any traffic laws that would have contributed to the crash, but was cited for not wearing a seatbelt.
