CSX makes progress with cleanup after Summers County train derailment

CSX said all of the 22 empty coal cars that derailed in Summers County on Wednesday were removed within twenty-four hours and the four locomotives that came off the tracks have also been cleared. CSX officials said in a news release Thursday morning that two of the three crew members injured in the crash remain in the hospital and are receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. The company said it will be working closely with the National Park Service, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Environmental Protection when it starts the excavating work.
